A state income tax credit is available for farmers and landowners
implementing conservation practices on their properties. The tax credit rate is
25% of the landowners cost to install the practice or not to exceed $17,500.
Most cost share practices are also eligible for the tax credit program. Several
popular conservation practices including alternative watering troughs and
sacrifice areas are eligible for the tax credit program only.

Riparian buffer establishment is just one of

Federal Conservation Programs
The Conservation District works closely with the Natural Resources
Conservation Service and The Farm Service Agency both part of the U.S Department
of Agriculture. These federal agencies have many financial incentive and
conservation programs for farmers and landowners interested in farmland
protection, wetland restoration, wildlife habitat improvement, riparian buffer
establishment and other natural resources conservation concerns. For more
information on specific federal conservation programs visit
